Our favorite restaurants in the Jungfrau region

The Jungfrau region lies at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau — three of Switzerland's most iconic mountain peaks. And honestly: it really is a bit of a fairytale. But one where you end the day with a meal you won't forget. The region has made serious culinary strides in recent years. From a Michelin star in a hotel restaurant next to the church to the region's first Japanese restaurant — it's all there. These are our favorite places to eat in the Jungfrau Region.

Restaurant Fiescherblick: for the connoisseur

Restaurant Fiescherblick: for the connoisseur

Start making reservations now, because Restaurant Fiescherblick is not just any restaurant. In 2025, this restaurant earned both 16 Gault Millau points and a Michelin star, even though it sits 'simply' next to the village church in Grindelwald, overlooking the Eiger North Face: a notorious, 1800-meter-high, virtually vertical rock face considered one of the most dangerous climbing routes in the Alps. At Fiescherblick, you order a seasonal Chef's Choice Menu From four to six courses, prepared with regional ingredients. The cuisine is inspired by the chef's travels through Japan and Scandinavia, founded on French craftsmanship. Sounds serious, feels surprisingly accessible (and the dishes themselves are picture-perfect).

BG's Grill: casual Alpine soul food with 16 Gault Millau points

BG's Grill: casual Alpine soul food with 16 Gault Millau points

Part of the Bergwelt Grindelwald Alpine Design Resort, but certainly not a run-of-the-mill hotel-restaurant. The concept: casual Alpine soul food – meat, fish, and more prepared in the charcoal oven after which the restaurant is named, using local products and a wine list that complements this seamlessly. The interior is warm and modern Alpine: wooden floors, unique designer lamps, and an open kitchen with an impressive charcoal oven. Ideal if, after a day on the slopes, you are in the mood for something truly good and want to finish with homemade chocolate truffles.

Barry's Restaurant: cheese fondue, rösti and its own gift shop

Barry's Restaurant: cheese fondue, rösti and its own gift shop

Barry's is located in the Eiger Mountain & Soul Resort and is one of the most popular spots in the village, and rightly so. Alpine coziness without being old-fashioned. The menu is honest and full of flavor: from creamy cheese fondue and crispy rösti to juicy burgers and the famous Eiger Rock: a tender entrecote cooked on a hot stone. Finish with a Swiss chocolate fondue.

And before you go home: just run your nose through the Eigershop, because it is full of culinary souvenirs from the region. From Eiger gin and Eiger wine to Barry's own apple liqueur, which he claims carries the soul of the Bernese Oberland. We say: take it with you.

Umami: sushi and ramen in the Alps (and why not)

Umami: sushi and ramen in the Alps (and why not)

Umami is Grindelwald's first Japanese restaurant, perfect for when you want a change from cheese fondue and rösti. It is located on the ground floor of the Grindellodge and is run by Tokyo-based chef Shota Hasegawa, who serves authentic ramen, sushi, tempura, and donburi. The Grindellodge honors the historical bond between Grindelwald and Japan; Japanese mountaineers made important first ascents in the Swiss Alps in the early 20th century, using Grindelwald as their base. A special story to accompany your bowl of ramen.
